These deals typically involve non-standard commercial structures, with embedded working capital and credit solutions secured against the assets of the company.

The role also involves the management and optimization of an existing deal portfolio in the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

What's the role?
The key responsibilities of the successful candidate include the following:
* Originating deals and developing new commercial structures using structured financing to support long-term supply solutions for gas, power and environmental products and associated hedging products to independent energy retailers in Italy and other markets
* Managing an existing deal portfolio (primarily in the UK), and pro-actively identifying value enhancing add-on opportunities and risk management structures (e.g. additional trading activity/products, supporting M&A opportunities, products for improved price risk management).
* Leading a multi-disciplinary functional deal team in the identification, preparation, negotiation and execution of such opportunities.
* Supporting the development of new customer value propositions (CVPs) including with other Business Development teams within SEEL, to take advantage of market opportunities that present themselves (e.g due to regulatory change or changes in competitor behaviour), and that also align with SEEL's strategic ambitions.
* Supporting the development of appropriate processes and systems for effective risk control/monitoring, deal management and in support of optimisation activities, in cooperation with SEEL functions.

What we need from you
For the successful candidate, the skills developed within role are also transferable to other frontline deal making and portfolio management disciplines including within (COMPANY NAME) Energy, Trading & Supply, Integrated Gas and Downstream B2B businesses.

The key skills and requirements of the successful candidate include the following:
* Experience in the European or other liberalised gas and power markets
* Deep understanding of energy retail business, ideally directly, including supply, hedging and finance matters
* Corporate finance experience, including knowledge of different financing structures
* Experience in external negotiations, and in managing challenging customer relationships
* History of delivering deal value
* History of assessing counterparty risk and potential future exposure, and deriving and implementing prudent practices to manage this risk
* Experience designing product offerings in gas, power and /or structured finance in new markets (new market entry)
* Ability to quickly assess a counterparty's and SEEL's key success factors, value drivers and risks in a potential relationship
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and influence relationships internally and externally at all levels of seniority
* Ability to analyse counterparty financial statements, business cash flow, income statement and balance sheet projections - and appreciate the implication of business case sensitivities (e.g. impact of volume deviations/customer churn/bad debt ratios) on business financials
* Ability to independently draft/amend complex legal contracts capturing commercial structures to a reasonable degree
* Attention to detail
* Resilience to pressure, and ability to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines

Beneficial qualities include the following:
* Business level language skill in Spanish or Italian, French or German a plus
* Knowledge of and engagement with industry participants at a senior and/or trading level in the markets of interest
* Effective and succinct pitching to external counterparties
* Experience mandating deals / business cases

(COMPANY NAME) Trading integrates a worldwide trading network with an unsurpassed global portfolio in crude oil, refined products, LNG, natural gas, electrical power, environmental products, and chemicals and has larger locations in London, Houston, Calgary, Singapore, Dubai, Rotterdam, and Barbados. (COMPANY NAME) Trading is one of the world's largest energy traders and is a key segment of Royal Dutch (COMPANY NAME)'s portfolio. "(COMPANY NAME) Energy" includes the energy trading divisions (COMPANY NAME) Energy Europe & Environmental Products (SE-EE), (COMPANY NAME) LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT), (COMPANY NAME) Energy North America (SENA) and (COMPANY NAME) Energy Asia (SEA).

SE-EE is part of the (COMPANY NAME) Trading & Supply organization with a focus on European gas and power markets, and the global emissions market. As such, SE-EE trades natural gas, power, green power certificates, voluntary/compliance driven environmental products with counterparties including major resource holders of gas, upstream producers, investment banks, trading houses, utilities, power generators, large as well as up-and-coming retail gas and power marketing companies, regional and local gas and power distribution companies, gas storage operators, and large industrial and commercial gas and power users.

At (COMPANY NAME) Energy Europe Limited, we are committed to providing an equal opportunity to all qualified applicants and do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, political preference, sexual orientation, national origin, marriage / civil partnership or pregnancy and maternity/paternity. To power progress together, we believe that our workforce should reflect the diversity of the markets, geographies, communities and societies within which we operate, and that our success depends on having the very best talent from all backgrounds where differing values, perspectives and experiences are intentionally integrated into our ways of working. We want you to feel that you belong, succeed on your merits and have no barriers to reaching your ultimate potential.

The Structured Energy Origination team concentrates on originating, executing and subsequently managing customer tailored, multiyear transactions for the sale of gas, power and associated environmental products in the key European markets, primarily to independent retail energy companies who lack broad access to wholesale traded markets and do not own upstream assets. These transactions are often achieved via non-standard commercial structures, with embedded working capital / credit solutions secured in a variety of ways, ranging from unsecured credit deals, to deals secured against the assets/equity of the underlying company.

In addition to this, the team is also actively involved in helping deliver on SEEL's ambitions in electricity by developing new structures that create positions/exposures desired by the trade desks and consistent with these ambitions, as well as exploring synergies between our customers and non-competing (COMPANY NAME) New Energies' businesses and (COMPANY NAME) Ventures in the area of customer connectivity and behind-the-meter solutions.

This is a key strategic initiative for SE-EE, and we have built a market leading portfolio of UK, NL and French-based retail energy partnerships (amongst others, First Utility prior to the acquisition by (COMPANY NAME), OVO Energy, Octopus Energy), and are looking to further expand the portfolio into the key European markets whilst also growing selectively in the UK through the offering of new services to the market that increase the unit margin earned by SE-EE.
