Job Description

Scotland or Northern Ireland
The Neurology Business Manager (Multiple Sclerosis (MS)) works closely with the territory cross functional team to maximise the performance of their territory by developing and executing an effective business plan that:
* Ensures that the (COMPANY NAME) MS portfolio is available to patients and there are no barriers to funding at a local, regional or national level. Ensures (COMPANY NAME) products are positioned in clinical guidelines by appropriate health service decision makers committees in a similar manner
* Helps the NHS develop the appropriate service capacity and patient pathways to ensure that the care of MS patients is optimised at a regional and local level
* Addresses other hurdles to patient access

Doing so may involve working with products before (e.g. advance budget notification) and after marketing authorisation in accordance with the ABPI code of practice and (COMPANY NAME) SOPs. It will necessitate analysing territory performance, having an in-depth understanding of the healthcare environment at national & territory level, defining action plans and implementing local marketing strategies utilising resources provided by (COMPANY NAME). They will need to positively impact customers understanding and interest in their assigned products. They need to be experts on the NHS environment within their territory, identifying the environmental opportunities and challenges for the (COMPANY NAME) business and demonstrate strategic leadership within their local cross functional team to ensure these opportunities / challenges are addressed.

The Neurology Business Manager will also contribute to the success of the (COMPANY NAME) UK affiliate on a national basis by:
* Identifying changes in the UK healthcare environment that may represent opportunities and challenges to the (COMPANY NAME) business. Recommending strategic responses to the (COMPANY NAME) leadership team
* Positively impacting customers on with a national remit based within their geography
They must follow internal and external compliance regulations, policies and codes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Within a specific geographical territory, the NBM will be responsible for contributing to the achievement of territory s goals through the activities detailed below. They will need to develop and execute a specific business plan in line with company strategy and business plans. The NBM will be responsible for contacting and meeting both healthcare professionals and commissioning customers in 1:1 and meeting environments to develop customer relationships and deliver business results in line with the ABPI code of practice and other applicable internal & external regulations, policies and codes. Specific performance goals and metrics will be agreed with the National Neurology Business Manager (MS)

1a. Achieve Appropriate Funding Levels and Positioning in Formularies / Protocols for Assigned Products
o Be fully up to date at all times on NHS budgeting and the financial linkages existing in the marketplace. To set up and participate in meetings with clinicians and payers to secure the required clinical approval and budgetary funding for the company's products. This may include non-promotional Advanced Budgetary Notification of new products or product changes, strictly in accordance with ABPI Code of Practice.
o Work to secure the required formulary inclusions & protocols within the specified territory to support prescribing of the company's products
o Removes other barriers to patients accessing MS treatments

1b. Supports Successful Patient Outcomes
o Identifies and addresses capacity issues and inefficient or inappropriate patient pathways that hinder optimal treatment of patients; therefore, supporting market expansion through partnership development
o Sets up and participates in meetings with clinicians and payers to develop strategies & partnerships to capitalize on market expansion
o Sets and participates in meetings with designated clinicians to influence referral pathways and prescribing behaviors

1c. Market Strategy Development:
o Develops and maintains an excellent knowledge of local and national NHS environment, changes and priorities
o Develops payor customer KOL advocates and partnership working with identified local health economies
o Develop effective customer insights through the interpretation and analysis of complex data, local knowledge and business objectives.
o Uses knowledge to:
o Identify brand specific opportunities and challenges at territory levels. Communicates information to local cross functional team and develops territory business plan
o Provide feedback to the Brand Team on product strategy and tactics to best support customer needs in the local health economy.
o Provide insights and proposed responses to national NHS topics.
o Uses knowledge to:
o Identify brand specific opportunities and challenges at territory levels. Provides environmental insights and strategic leadership to the local cross functional team local cross functional team to during the ongoing development and implementation of the territory business plan.
o Provide feedback to the Brand Team on product strategy and tactics to best support customer needs in the local health economy.
o Provide insights and proposed responses to national NHS topic to the (COMPANY NAME) leadership team

1d. Positively influencing the national & regional healthcare environment
o Identifies customers on the territory with a national influence on NHS policy. Feeds back insights from the customers
o Positively influences customers with a national influence in accordance with the (COMPANY NAME) strategy. Feeds back the outputs from these contacts to the (COMPANY NAME) leadership team
o A Snr NBM will be expected to play a more active role in the development of the (COMPANY NAME) Idec market access / development strategy at a national level. They will identify key strategic opportunities / threats in the external environment by reading published documents and representing (COMPANY NAME) Idec at external meetings (e.g. ABPI working groups, national conferences etc.). They will use this information to make recommendations on (COMPANY NAME) Idec's strategy through written & verbal communication. They may be asked to liaise with other internal departments and medical to provide responses to consultation documents at a regional / country level. They may be asked to attend specific internal strategic planning meetings.
o A Snr NBM will demonstrate the appropriate level of strategic leadership skills that enable them to lead internal project teams involved in development of (COMPANY NAME) strategy and take responsibility for ensuring implementation of this strategy. This may involve leading on the interaction with external customers outside of their own territory
o A Snr NBM will demonstrate a higher level of strategic thinking and innovation around ways to improve (COMPANY NAME) Idec business outcomes and processes. They will have a track record of consistent and sustained strategic contributions to the territory and UK affiliate business.

2. Account Plan Development
* Develop and implement robust business plans for priority accounts within the defined healthcare geography that are consistent with the national brand strategies.
* Develop and implement business plan review mechanisms to include targets for customer contacts, payer strategy milestones, volume, and growth/ market share as per project.
* Develop and implement local health economy contact plan to maximise influence on local NHS organisations.
* Identify and develop effective relationships with key opinion-formers and stakeholders in priority accounts.
* Make recommendations for annual budgets for investment of resources into priority accounts
* Uses healthcare environmental knowledge to provide strategic insights and leadership to external customers and local cross functional team during account plan development and implementation

3. Leveraging and Coordinating Resources.
* Takes lead role on mobilizing resources in support of customer needs; uses resources in a smart and impactful way. Digs beneath surface and seeks resources that address the core of an issue.
* Identifies and makes recommendations to the (COMPANY NAME) leadership team on the development of new resources that would give (COMPANY NAME) a competitive advantage with external customers

Qualifications

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Experience of driving service improvement at local Trust/CCG level
* Knowledge of current NHS structures, organisation, policies and procedures.
* A comprehensive understanding and up to date knowledge of NHS policy at both national and local level.

Minimum Education Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or related field
* Professional certification (ABPI)

Minimum Experience Requirements
* 3-5 years of pharmaceutical / health care sales preferably in specialty sales
* OR 2 years in specialty sales + career in relevant NHS role
* Proven and sustained track record of reaching and exceeding sales or market expansion goals
