Package Reliability Engineer

THE ROLE:

Join a global package reliability team that drives component and board-level reliability activities across (COMPANY NAME)'s 5nm/7nm IC and graphics-card products that employ advanced flipchip and chiplet package constructions. Interact with colleagues across (COMPANY NAME) Global Operations, Business Units and a worldwide external supply base. Take on individual responsibility to lead package reliability programs.

THE PERSON:

Demonstrated ability to create innovative problem solutions for complex technical challenges, to identify critical technical gaps, to make reasonable, simplifying assumptions, and to do so all under significant time-constraints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Starting at early product development stages, establish comprehensive package qualification plans for reliability assessment studies and final product qualification testing.

* Take leadership of all package reliability activities for your assigned products throughout development, qualification, production-ramp and sustaining.

* The new college graduate will work closely with colleagues, mentors and management in their first year to establish foundational skills for a successful reliability career at (COMPANY NAME).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

* Background in reliability analysis such as physics of failure analysis (PoF), design for reliability (DfR), design of experiment (DoE), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)

* Familiar with advanced semiconductor packaging materials, fabrication processes and material characterization techniques

* Superior written communication skills, including comprehensive technical reports

* Superior oral skills and ability to thrive as a team player in a diverse, multi-national organization

* Proficiency using statistical analysis software such as JMP (or equivalent)

* Proficiency using MATLAB (or equivalent)

* Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) modelling using Ansys (or equivalent)

* Familiar with printed wiring board materials, SMT circuit board assembly and sockets/connectors

* Familiar with advanced failure analysis and fault isolation equipment/procedures

* Familiar with data analytics software such as Tableau

* Professional experience not required, internship experience helpful

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

* Masters or PhD (preferred) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Electrical Engineering
