Reporting to the Head of Influence & Standards, your role will be to increase Somfy's influence in Brussels, to contribute to the defense of its interests and the promotion of its activities and solutions, mainly in relation to European players and regulations.
Your main responsibilities will be :
Represents Somfy in some professional unions based in Brussels
Develop the local network with the European institutions, partners, other companies, unions, NGOs and influent persons.
Research, monitoring and reporting (drafting notes) on a wide range of:
relevant policy areas and political and legislative developments of importance to the building, energy, IOT, and smart building industry (non-exhaustive list);
relevant issues and media developments of importance to the building industry and home automation (smart building, IOT), including development of newsletters and events calendars;
Support for policy and communications towards external stakeholders and media (including social media e.g. Twitter)
Research the opportunities to participate to European
Research Projects to finance the development of innovations or actions of the Somfy group (Horizon 2020) with external partners and draft proposals and follow-up.
Events organization and meetings support (occasionally)
Some travels to France and other European countries may be required.
You have a strong academic background in political science, law, communication, and have a first successful experience within a European Union institution, an international company, an association or as a consultant.
You have a thorough understanding of the political environment, communication and EU policies;
You have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to influence all types of stakeholders. You know how to establish relationships of trust with people with diverse profiles such as members of the European institutions ;
Your analytical mind combined with your excellent writing skills allow you to analyse a large amount of documents and highlight the essential points. Dealing with a multitude of complex files does not scare you.
Receptive and proactive, you are able to provide effective support to all your colleagues.
You are able to express yourself fluently both orally and in writing in English and French. Fluency in one or more other European languages would be an asset (Dutch, German, Spanish, Polish);
You are proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and have a basic knowledge of social media (Twitter, LinkedIn).
Knowledge of building regulations will be appreciated.
