This job is a member of the Legal team, within the American Airlines Credit Union. The role is responsible for working with Compliance Director & BSA Officer to assess and make recommendations on BSA risks to ensure internal controls, processes and all areas of the Credit Union achieve compliance with the BSA program.
What you'll do
* Work closely with the Director of Compliance & BSA Officer to assess and make recommendations on BSA risks to ensure internal controls, processes and all areas of the Credit Union achieve compliance with BSA and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and the Credit Union's BSA & AML program
* Develop analytics such as reports and assessments by leveraging systems, data, and the BSA's AML system risk model to assist with risk mitigation efforts and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) program requirements
* Oversee and manage BSA's third party BSA/AML and Fraud detection system, and act as a liaison between the BSA department, Technology & Innovation and BSA's third party AML system vendor, and other departments
* Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the BSA Risk area
* Coach, mentor, and develop staff by setting goals and objectives and assist staff with work progress
* Assist Director of Compliance & BSA Officer with internal and external audits, compliance reviews and regulatory examinations.
* Review and work with other departments on necessary policy and procedure revisions as it relates to BSA/AML and OFAC.
* Maintain accurate and updated BSA Risk department policies and procedures.
* Conduct BSA/AML/OFAC Risk Assessment on all of the Credit Union's products, services, transactional activity, and account types and produce a detailed, documented analysis of the results.
* Maintain an effective high risk monitoring and detection system and CDD/EDD program to include initial and ongoing monitoring, reviews and updates to higher risk products, services and member accounts
* Enhance and administer BSA/AML software system to ensure that appropriate parameters are in place to identify suspicious activity
* Ensure proper and prompt resolution to data mapping or balancing issues.
* Coordinates and successfully implements system releases and changes under the direction of the Director of Compliance & BSA Officer
* Develop and provide BSA training and conduct BSA Quality Control reviews
* Plan and document action items and successfully complete designated BSA project items and provide support to BSA department when necessary
* Perform other duties and work on additional projects as assigned
* The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
* Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and work experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions
* Experience with the operation of BSA/AML and Fraud detection system
* Previous banking or Credit Union experience and BSA/AML and OFAC related work experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
* Extensive knowledge of BSA/AML, U.S. Patriot Act, OFAC Regulations and related regulatory guidance
* Working knowledge and operation of BSA/AML detection system and solid understanding of BSA risk areas and mitigating factors
* Previous management or supervisory experience
* Certified BSA accreditation or must be obtained within 12 months of hire
* Experience with Credit Union systems
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
* Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
* Knowledge of the Credit Union's operations and a comprehensive understanding of BSA and AML laws and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to OFAC and CIP
* Ability to demonstrate superior people management, interpersonal and employee engagement skills, to include directing, coaching, counseling and motivating staff
* Ability to supervise multiple staff personnel
* Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously with and work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines
* Ability to demonstrate strong research, critical thinking, analytical, database management, statistical and problem solving skills
* Ability to make sound decisions by exercising independent judgment and capacity for attention to detail, and must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize and present findings in a clear and concise manner
* Ability to exercise flexibility, and able to work as part of a team and independently and be able to work and communicate with all levels of management and non-management
* Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership and training skills and resourcefully solve problems and maximize resources
* Ability to elicit confidence and build rapport with staff
* Ability to travel required as needed
* Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
* Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
