Job Description

Position: Internship on Audio Signal Processing And Machine Learning

Duration: 6 weeks or more

The team you'll be part of

You will join the Signal Processing & Algorithms team, which has a proven record of inventing record-breaking access technologies and enriching (COMPANY NAME)'s product portfolio. Our team innovates on end-to-end system design as well as on building blocks of the physical layer of next-generation communication technologies and audio systems by employing a range of skills including digital signal processing, optimization theory and machine learning.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:

* Acquire knowledge on digital signal processing and/or machine learning for audio technology through an initial literature study
* Obtain insight in the challenges that are presented in this area through interaction with the team
* Try to devise suitable solutions that innovate beyond the state-of-the-art
* Develop and validate solutions through combining numerical simulations (e.g., in MATLAB/Python) with theoretical analysis and/or practical lab demos
* Have access to a lab environment where you can record and process your own real-life audio signals
* Document and present the developed techniques and results to a wider Bell Labs audience.

Required Skills

Your skills and experience

Currently a candidate for a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, at a Belgian university.

You have:

* A passion for audio and an interest in working on either DSP audio algorithms, machine learning for audio use cases, setting up an experimental audio hardware demo, or a combination of both
* A positive and open mindset and strong drive to succeed
* A fluent understanding of the English language
* Knowledge on Digital Signal Processing or machine learning in the field of audio or telecommunication
* Hands-on experience with simulation tools and programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch).

It would be nice if you also had:

* An affinity for or experience with audio applications
