The interns will be part of the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA) 75th Session and will assist in carrying out tasks for the President in the areas of relevance. The interns will assist the team of advisers in the OPGA, closely monitoring and assessing priority issues, as they relate to the work of the UN General Assembly. They will each be assigned to a team depending on their fields of competence, viz: Peace and Security; humanitarian and human rights; legal reform and budget; Sustainable development; and communications and media. Internships in the UN are unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the Director and team leaders. The positions are located in the OPGA office in New York and have a duration of maximum 6 (six)
Under the overall guidance of the Director, the interns will: *Monitor and report on aspects of the various agendas the OPGA chooses to follow during the 75th session of the GA. This includes engaging in reporting and analysis with regards to the relevant UN General Assembly Committees, analysing and assessing developments and trends, on an on-going basis with a view to assisting advisers in preparing policy recommendations to the PGA and the Senior Management; pro-actively identify risks and challenges to substantive as well as process issues; actively aid in seeking and creating opportunities for substantive advancement of interlinked and cross-cutting issues; assist in the development of periodic briefs and reports, as needed, *Carry out administrative tasks in supporting the work of the advisers and management in the OPGA, *Support co-ordination and conference management efforts as well as preparing reports and statistics when needed, *Support advisers' efforts in outreach to and collaboration with Member States, UN System entities, academic institutions, civil society, philanthropy and the private sector on the overall work of the General Assembly, *Support development, planning, promotion and follow-up of special events prioritized by the President of the General Assembly or mandated by the UN General Assembly, *Support communication efforts concerning the work of the President of the General Assembly, *Perform other duties as may be required by the President of the General Assembly.

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. Be computer literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME).
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, exposure to multicultural environments would be an asset. English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internships. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.
