The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.
The Human Resources Services Division (HRSD) provides dedicated services in support of human resources requirements of client entities, from process development through service delivery.
The Non-Staff Capacities Unit (NSCU) provides support to managers and business partners in the use of non-staff personnel, helps clients to obtain the capacities necessary to deliver their mandates and also facilitates a better coordination with Member States on issues related to personnel contributed by their Governments under the non-staff modality. Following the study on the use of non-staff capacities, the main focus of the unit is to facilitate the implementation of the proposed recommendations aiming to promote good practice, improve processes and address the challenges of non-staff administration.
This internship is located in the Non-Staff Capacities Unit (NSCU), the Human Resources Services Division (HRSD), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS). The Intern reports to the Chief of the Unit.
The Internship is for a minimum of four months from 1st October 2020 to 31 January 2021 with a possibility of extension up to six months. As the NSCU team is currently working remotely due to COVID-19 crisis, the internship is remote only. The situation will be assessed at the end of the year to determine whether the internship can resume in person.
The internship is UNPAID and part-time (50% of the week). The Intern works five days per week (17.5 hours) under the supervision of the staff member mentioned above.
The intern works as a full member of our team, pursues project assignments that are designed to make a significant impact on our work, and has opportunities to learn about the (COMPANY NAME) overall. The internship will focus on the following areas that will contribute to our current main project:
*Help analyze the use of non-staff capacities across functional areas and entities;
*Provide input into policy revisions to improve the processes and address the administrative challenges while meeting the timelines for execution;
*Develop or provide input to guidance materials (information kits, process guides, Standard Operating Procedures for non-staff capacities);
*Support the development of the community of practice;
*Support the analytics teams in preparing data, data models and surveys;
*Design and prepare content/copy for corporate briefings, presentations, fact sheets and
*Support the development of websites, including layout, content, look and feel;
*Provide design and content support across a range of products

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
1) Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent);
2) Be computer literate in standard software applications, especially MS Excel;
3) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
4) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
5) We are open to a broad range of educational backgrounds. We seek candidates with relevant coursework in business administration, management, strategic communications and design, project management, public administration, legal administration (criminal justice), political affairs or human resources management.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat.
