The 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP), adopted by Heads of State at the (COMPANY NAME) Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in 2012, is a global framework for action to accelerate the shift towards Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in both developed and developing countries. UNEP was mandated by the UN General Assembly to serve as the Secretariat of the 10YFP. As reflected in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 10YFP plays a central role in achieving the shift to SCP: its implementation is the first target of Sustainable Development Goal 12 on "Ensuring sustainable consumption and production"; the 10YFP is also recognized as the Framework of reference for decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation in SDG 8. The 10YFP generates impact through multi-stakeholder programmes and partnerships, which develop, replicate, and scale up SCP policies and practices at all levels and which form together the One Planet network (wxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxg).


Under the supervision of the Secretariat for the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP), the intern will assist in a variety of tasks relating to internal and external communications and knowledge management for the 10YFP Secretariat and the One Planet Network. Internally, this can include identifying opportunities to disseminate the work being done across the different workstreams of the 10YFP Secretariat, and synthesizing knowledge from the online platform, meetings, and other sources. Responsibilities may also include research support for knowledge identification related to the different workstreams of the 10YFP Secretariat. External support to the One Planet network programmes can include supporting various projects and activities through social media outreach and drafting of online stories, news and events.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Support to the implementation of the 10YFP communication strategy both internally and externally.
- Notetaking and synthesizing of discussions between stakeholders of the One Planet network
- Support specific activities of the 10YFP Secretariat through research and dissemination.
- Develop online content (stories, news, events) relevant to the One Planet network editorial focus.
- Support digital communications activities such as website content management, social media engagement, database management, email marketing.
- Undertake desktop research to inform decision making processes.
- Respond to ad hoc requests for support.


Desired experience with (one or more):
- Microsoft office package (required)
- Experience synthesizing information (qualitative and quantitative) and presenting in concise and relevant manner (required).
- Experience working with data visualization software/tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, D3, or others) (preferred)
- Experience with digital media tools (e.g. CMS, CRM, email marketing platforms, Google Analytics, social
- media platforms) (preferred)


Masters degree in Communications, Knowledge Management or related discipline is required. Focus on International Relations desired.

Work Experience

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French language is desirable.
