Description du poste:

The (COMPANY NAME) Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the (COMPANY NAME) system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The intern will work on projects of the Cities Unit, Energy and Climate Branch, of the Paris-based Economy Division. The intern will be involved in the implementation of activities related to Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) Programme, which contribute to the related One Planet Network (formerly 10YFP), and the work in Cities and Buildings, particularly the Global Initiative for Resource Efficient Cities (GI-REC), Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), and the work of the Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) programme, and the Energy and Climate Branch's work linked to Lifestyles.
The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the overall supervision of the Head, Cities Unit and the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Management Officer, Cities Unit.
Kindly note that candidates will be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging my travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.

Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Assisting in the work of the Sustainable Food Systems Programme
Conducting research and supporting the analyses of sustainable food systems country policies
Supporting the development of the Food Waste Index, the UN mechanism to track country level progress on food waste prevention, in line with SDG 12.3
Working on web development and online presentation of materials for the SFS Programme and the Think Eat Save campaign website
Writing and drafting articles for the Think Eat Save website; helping with the promotion and awareness raising of the Think Eat Save campaign.
Supporting with the organization of workshops, webinars and other SFS meetings and/or events.

Assisting in the implementation of the Global Initiative for Resource Efficient Cities
Support in the implementation of pilot projects on circular economy jobs in cities and development of the analysis.
Support in the work on circular economy in cities monitoring frameworks.
Reviewing and editing publications and coordinating their layout and printing.
Working on web development and online presentation of materials and keeping the GI-REC website up-to-date with regard to new publications, new partners.

Assisting in the tasks of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC)
Logistical support for the technical workshop on regional roadmaps and GlobalABC COP25-related events
Support regarding member outreach including member databases
Support regarding outreach and preparation of webinars
Support on communication efforts including support for presentations, articles, newsletter, website content development, and general awareness raising.

Assisting in the tasks of Sustainable Lifestyles
Social media support including preparing draft messaging, promoting and tracking
Communications and marketing support including layout and design of flyers and social media posts
Support in engaging cultural and media influencers to promoting messaging
identification and outreach to institutions with strong social media presence

Supporting Branch-level activities linked to Sustainable Lifestyles (such as, but not limited to, the activities of United for Efficiency or U4E).

Team Helping with the logistical preparation of workshops and events.
Support in the activities of the Cities Unit in international conferences (e.g. World Urban Forum 2020, etc.)
This includes preparing powerpoint slides for webinars and conferences, support in drafting concept and briefing notes, etc.

Regularly updating the visual tools, infographics and reference materials.

Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, including providing technical assistance during virtually-held meetings.

Keeping track of, and regularly updating, the partners' contact database and the corresponding mailing lists.

Assisting the Cities Unit team with the implementation of projects, preparing documents in English or other relevant language and liaising with contacts from Partner organizations or project countries.

Assisting with other tasks associated with the implementation of the Cities Unit team's projects, as needed and directed by supervising staff member.

Education

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or
higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. In addition to: Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the Programme.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this internship fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
