Job Description
The Team: We are Group Finance, a key function of News UK with oversight of all areas of the business and regular direct liaison with the CFO and CEO.
Your Role: You will support the Head of Finance with principle responsibility to assist in processing and delivering regular P&L performance reporting and current year forecasting across the News UK Group portfolio to the CFO and US Head Office, combined with ad hoc analysis to support the business in making decisions.
Day to day:
* Preparation and submission of weekly results to (COMPANY NAME).
* Assist in the preparation and analysis of weekly results to the CFO.
* Understand the full P&Ls for the News UK business across Publishing and Wireless.
* Assist with investigating variances in results against expectations with other finance staff.
* Completion of the month end process including system and organisational assistance.
* Consolidation of the News UK Group numbers and the reporting to support the sign off process.
* Ensure relevant teams receive numbers at the end of each reporting cycle.
* Assist in the completion of US narrative explaining variances and support the US head office with ad-hoc requests.
* Assist in updating and maintaining the rolling forecast and tracking of mitigating action.
* Supporting the budgeting and forecast cycles for News UK Group.
* Assisting with analysis and completion of narratives for the quarter end conference call.
* Ownership of monthly TLS P&L analysis.
* Preparation of the quarterly TNHL Board report.
* Investigate and solve any variances which arise, reconcile and investigate discrepancies.
* Supporting the on-going development of reporting outputs and review process, identify and develop process improvements and investigate solutions.
What we're looking for from you:
* You need to be qualified or part qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent), with relevant experience.
* Strong report writing skills, a high level of IT literacy in excel and ideally SAP and TM1.
* Pro-active individual who indicates via their actions a desire to get the job done.
* Experience of coordinating information involving multiple business areas with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
* Commercially aware with strong accounting skills and attention to detail ensuring accuracy and consistency.
* Tenacity and willingness to challenge at all levels.
* Logical thinker and able to solve problems.
