This position is located in the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), an independent office reporting to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly. OIOS adds value by providing worldwide audit, investigation, inspection, programme monitoring and evaluation services to all bodies affiliated with the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. The Office of the Under-Secretary-General (OUSG) supports the Under-Secretary-General (USG) and the Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) in the fulfillment of their responsibilities for executive direction and management of OIOS. The internship, based in New York City, is UNPAID and full-time. The internship is initially for three months and can be extended up to six months, working five days per week under the supervision of a Chief of Unit in the department or office to which they are assigned. Internships may be undertaken on the basis of flexible working arrangements. The intern is required to work the equivalent of three months on a full-time basis within a six-month period.
The Intern is expected to assist with the publishing and the developing of content for the OIOS public website and intranet. The intern may be assigned to developing other communication material as applicable. Responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, strength, and interest. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Maintaining an upcoming events page on the OIOS website,
-Publishing and updating the status of ongoing audit, inspection and evaluation assignments on the website,
-Identifying communication items on issues relevant to the Office or the Organization,
-Developing content such as mini interviews or techniques pieces for an internal audience,
-Creating basic website-related graphic design as applicable,
-Developing other forms of communication material as required.

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or
higher); or (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (Bachelor's, Master's, Ph.D., or equivalent) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation; (d) if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, they must have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree; (e) graduated from or studying in the programme of public information, communication, information systems and communication technology, languages, social sciences, or a related field is desirable; (f) be computer literate in standard software applications, in particular related to social media, proficiency in HTML, CSS and/or Drupal is desirable; (g) have a demonstrated interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and (h) have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this post, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
