The internship is located in the Population Unit of the Statistical Division, (COMPANY NAME) Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva.
The intern is expected to contribute to the work of the Population Unit as follows:
a) To assist in the preparation of a regional review of progress in the implementation of ICPD in the UNECE region and the preparation and follow-up of a high-level regional conference on ICPD
b) Contribute to the organisation of inter-governmental meetings convened by UNECE
c) To participate in the implementation of different components of the Programme of Work of the Working Group on Ageing, including researching reference materials for policy briefs on ageing and assisting in the preparation of material for capacity development on ageing-related policies and programmes
d) Contribute to communication activities (press articles, website content, social media) related to the work of the Unit, identifying topics of interest and occasions for communication
e) Contribute to the dissemination activities of the Generations and Gender Programme (a data collection programme) through maintenance and further development of the online bibliography of publications based on GGP data
f) To contribute to the day-to-day activities of the Unit, through activities such as desk research, meeting support, drafting of reports and processing of statistical data.

To qualify for the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants to the (COMPANY NAME) internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree, as defined above, and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
For this internship, studies in either Demography, Statistics, Economics, Social and Political Sciences, International Relations, or related fields are required.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French or Russian is an asset.
