The (COMPANY NAME) Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the (COMPANY NAME) system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
(COMPANY NAME) Environment Programme - Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between (COMPANY NAME) Environment and the global financial sector created in the wake of the 1992 Earth Summit with a mission to promote sustainable finance. More than 300 financial institutions, including banks, insurers, and investors, work with UNEP to understand today's environmental, social and governance challenges, why they matter to finance, and how to actively participate in addressing them.
UNEP FI's work also includes a strong focus on policy - by promoting country-level dialogues between finance practitioners, supervisors, regulators and policy-makers, and, at the international level, by promoting financial sector involvement in processes such as the global climate negotiations.
The Economy Division / UNEP FI internship is for six months.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the Supervision of the Chief or Programme Officer, the intern will:
Communications is an important part of UNEP FI's overall mission and is embedded in all aspects of its activities. In working with and communicating to our various stakeholders and audiences we raise awareness and support the adoption and integration of sustainable finance. By setting standards, providing tools, research and capability development, and facilitating networking and engagement activities we are helping to transform the global financial system. We also promote the work of our members, global financial institutions including leading banks, investors and insurers.
The intern will assist with implementing UNEP FI's Communications strategy. Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual's background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Assist with the writing, editing and design of communication content, including newsletters, social media, event announcements, web content, digital content and other targeted communications
-Assist with the drafting, designing and editing of publications (reports, brochures, etc.)
-Assist with media outreach and with social media outreach
-Assistance with day-to-day coordination of events
-Assist with the communications for virtual events and webinars, advancing the sustainable finance agenda to audiences around the globe.

Client orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be "clients" and seeks to see things from clients' point of view. Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect. Identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
