HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? because you got also some other students, from different countries so that you can come closer to their culture and language, and of course practice your German, because there are also German students living on campus.
Personal comments:
Housing is pritty good, but the price is hight that is why i think that only one minus in that you pay a lot. But in other things it is very good. You are going to have a big multicultural experience because a lot of people from different countries and also German students are living here, so it is very good for you. Good that you can get to know students from different parts of the world, get to know their mentality and culture and also the language. You can come closer to German culture and students will help you with your German. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
It is very subjective. I had to choose 7 courses in one year, and then write my master thesis. It was really interesting, because I chose very different subject, from philosophy to management of information systems.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
No: what is exciting is that the erasmus students have almost the same academic life as the german ones. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
The good thing about this university that you are going to study using 2 languages. First 2 years of your studies you are going to have only in English language and take some German courses, then after 2 years of English language and learning German, you have to pass German language test and then study mostly in German. So in the end you are going to speak fluently in English and German. And also, you have right to learng other languages like Spanish, French, Italien, Skandinavian languages and so on. So it is VERY good for you. Not every university got this kind of things. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
I traveled a lot more than in France, I was eager to discover my environment and other cultures, so I spent most of my funds in it. Nevertheless, evryday living there is a lot cheaper than in France, so it balanced my overall budget. Travel: was more expensive than at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
One huge good surprise: the semesterticket (cost: 80€), which allows every student during one semester to go other limits and completely freely through the whole länder and Berlin. Very good t(r)ip! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
To speak better german. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I really enjoyed my experience at this university:small scale, interesting courses, students from all over the world (with a majority of polish and eastern europe). I often traveled with polish friends (e.g hiking in the mountains, visit to Poznan, Wroclaw, Prag...). Some students may not like Frankfurt Oder because there is "nothing" to do. But Berlin is really not far. FINAL COMMENTS
Overall exciting experience. I especially appreciate the fact to live in former east germany: I could meet german from all germany and share their different ideas and values. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
