HOUSING
by Richard, Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? The accomodation was new, modern, clean, great bathroom , privacy.
Personal comments:
The apartment was shared with 4 other people and gavme the opportunity to immediately meet new people and make new friends. The apartment block itself was a purpose built building with 5 floors with 2 apartments on each floor, all occupied by students which gave it a great atmosphere. The apartment and rooms were well kept, the individual rooms were big enough to house a small country and were situated in an ideal location in the town. STUDENT LIFE
by Richard, Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Oh too many to say, but the Stiefel was great for a real german beer fest, being a stop off for any hen-night in town. The Gruene Ganz for great grilled chicken sandwiches with garlic sauce. Guinness opened an Irish pub, but I can't remember the name of it. Must have been the Guinness! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
In hindsight, the experience was very leisurely. I now feel it should have had more weight behind it in terms how serious we should have taken this study period in Germany. Having said this though, compared to our German colleagues, who have the option of what exams they take at the end of the year, the UK version of the course was and probably still is much harder as we only had 4 years to complete it! On average it took our German colleagues 6 years!
My opinion of the university assessment

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your German?
My level before: My level after: Personal comments:
It gave me the opportunity to practice and learn the language in a relaxed environment, which I believe when learning a language, is a key factor. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
How expensive it is to be educated! In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It is quite small town, but one which doubles in population during the semesters. I found the lecturers and fellow students to be friendly, open with a great love for meeting people of other nationalities and walks of life and personally gave me a great insight into the academic and business of another country. FINAL COMMENTS
1.Be honest 2.Be friendly 3.Be an ambassador, for your university and for your country! 4.Don't be afraid. 5.Just talk to people, especially from other countries. You will be respected for making any effort to integrate and get to know others. 6. Be open minded, willing to listen, willing to understand, willing to accept and enjoy other peoples and cultures!
