Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.

Type of housing: room in apartment w/ 2 GV-students
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It was the best choice, as expected, I prefer individual freedom (eg compared to family housing) together with socializing with Brazilians.

- the list distributed by the CRI are not ideal, prices are above actual level for non-gringos.

- Urbano is definitely best in SP. - Concerts in Ibirapuera Park are cool & free - Don't miss Fogo do Chão...a churrascaria

- avoid "politcs and culture in brazil", just buy the more interesting course literature: Boris Fausto, História Concisa do Brasil!!

The language of instruction is both English and Portuguese. I took courses in either language (2 en, 5 ptg) as I decided on courses in view of my personal needs concerning the content of the courses.

price level is by far lower in brazil than in austria. still i used all my budget. in austria i do not go out that much as in brazil, therefor the increase. Housing is extremely cheap in comparison.
Nightlife: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel, Overall, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Housing: was less expensive than at home.

the visa costs 70 € for Austrians while Germans get it for free!!!

I was well prepared and did not even have a big culture shock :-( I was looking forward to that before. But the culture shock at the return to home was not so negligible...
