HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: At the hotel, some of rooms of which are rented
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why? There were other student hostels which are better in terms of social relationships
Personal comments:
Despite the fact that there's a lack of enough housing in Halmstad, "student union" that is responsible for student affairs, does its best to find somewhere to stay This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Student Pub in the university is a good place to have fun. Besides, there are pubs and discos in the city center. But if you are coming from a bigger city than Halmstad, you might be disappointed. However, even though Halmstad is not a big city, there are considerable amount of activities to choose. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
Swedes are very capable of speaking English. Actually, i've taken a Swedish course in Falun (Sweden) before moving to Halmstad. Later, i've tried to practice my Swedish but i have never come across such a situation in which i had to use my Swedish. Whenever you have difficulty speaking Swedish, you can speak English and Swedes will perfectly understand you. This may sound great BUT you can not practice Swedish even in Sweden!!! OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
No In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Hogskolan i Halmstad is fairly a good university. You have lots of academic opportunities. It's a place to get an efficient education. FINAL COMMENTS
If you are planning to become an ERASMUS student, you should never miss EILC (Erasmus Intensive Language Courses). Halmstad University doesn't offer any EILC but you can choose another Swedish university giving EILC. I was in Hogskolan Dalarna, Falun for EILC. Even though it was a short period of time in Falun (only three weeks), it was full of my most memorable experience. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
