Overall
I have been studying Applied mathematics (specialization in Financial Engineering) at this university. This program comprises Mathematics, Economics and Finance courses. The mathematics courses which are from basic to advanced levels have helped me to understand the finance world in detail. To mention some, i have taken the courses portfolio management, Finance, Stochastic processes, Financial mathematics and operation research. The teachers have a good knowledge and they were trying their best to make us better. Students are few in number and they are from all over the world and we have a good relationship.

Course recommendations
The course I was enrolled in was designed for students with 1-2 years of previous Swedish language instruction. I had only one year of experience and was shocked when I learned that all of the other international students taking the course had more than 4 years of experience. I found that it was a more advanced course than I was ready for, so I recommend you have at least 3 years of experience behind you before you sign up. The experience would have been much more educational if I had been at the same level of my peers.

Personal comments
Unfortunately, I was accidentily left off of the email messages sent to the international students regarding activities and events planned for us. So, during my stay, I missed out of many fun events that would have given me many more opportunities to interact with the other international students and local students. Therefore, I suggest that if you study abroad anywhere, make sure you find out if there are activities planned for international students. And if there are, attend them! Also, as stated above, I would suggest you have at least 3 years of language instruction before attending this program.

I put the main focus on improving and refreshing my english skills when attending a Swedish university. Most of the Swedish citizens speak astonishing good english. So it is a reason why I would always recommend a Swedish university to imrpove english skills. Being able to learn the basics of Swedish was another reason for me to attend a Swedish university. We had slight problems in Swedish class for the reason that the teacher was not as firm in english as it is probably expected. But by the end of the course the students waere able to cope in all day situations. Last but not least I want to highlight that it is not easy to get in touch with local people in Sweden. They are rather reserved when it comes to get in contact with "foreigners" Therefore if somebody wants to learn more than just the basics of the swedish language, I'd advise him to look for a shared flat where he will be in touch with local students.

I have to say "takkso mycket" for all. It was a great time and it is still impossible for me to wake up with a bright smile. Out of my point of view you are very well supported, the working atmosphere is more than good, but it is also impossible to compare the university level with the level of my home university for example. Both systems are very different from each other.

Try to see Kiruna for the landscape, Sälen for skiing, Stockholm for shopping, Uppsala for the atmosphere and night-life, the lake for chilling, the International Office for any kind of tips, the Karen for laughing, and all kind of pubs, clubs...in order to spend your money. Then you can be sure to have a nive time in Västeras and the rest of Sweden.

Course recommendations
The university is going through major restructuring and building projects at the moment. Work is still being done on various of its buildings. This is causing some disturbances, and general confusion amongst staff and students alike. Generally the planning that has been carried out left a lot to be desired, but may improve considerally in the near future. Many courses to choose from, but most are in swedish! Most internationally related courses are given in english as well.

I have participated in 3 courses here, but didn't have to do any exams! All assesment of my work was done through essays and projects and most of that was carried out in groups. Its hard to tell if the teachers have a good notion of your standpoint or not, and avoiding serious personal evaluation should be fairly easy.
