as far as academics go, they aren't the strongest. but they offer you something that doesn't have a price tag- international experience. it's a great place to go if you are an undecided freshman. they have enough variety in courses that you can find your niche and learn some spanish while you're at it. it's a great place for what it is.

if you are hesitant at all to go abroad, this university is great because there are many americans working there and willing to help you. you have to make an effort to mix with the other people but that's not too hard.

spain was fabulous. loved living in madrid, it's better than barcelona. going to an american university made the transition easier. spend a year not just a semester, and don't come home at christmas.

I wish that I would have known more about Spanish food because I didn't like it very much. But it wasn't that big of a deal

Go, its a lot of fun, you are very independent, and if you want to go on organized school trips, they have those too.

Try new things, be cautious but not afraid. Try to avoid going to the same bars or clubs that all the other American students go to, make international friends! Branch out and be independent. Keep your options open and try to get to know your city before you take off on weekend trips. Get to know your new home!!

I wish I had known...
That Spain has everything and I shouldn't have brought anything with me. Especially clothing. I ended up buying a whole new wardrobe anyways. The clothing there is amazing (in comparison to the US at least)

GO!!! It is a great university. The people who run it are very helpful...annoying at times, but still they become like family. Its all one big disfunctional family. With a dog named Teide too...He's always laying infront of the door in the Padre Rubio...just push him.

It was a good school for students who don't speak much English because about half of the kids were American

Travel as much as you can by train. Be prepared for Siesta and that most things are closed on Sunday's. Enjoy the culture and meet as many international people as possible!

Overall
The campus is small but it’s very small classes. Classes aren’t too hard and the professors are somewhat lenient and really cool. There’ are students from everywhere in the world and that’s pretty cool.
There’s a huge gap between the semester students and the permanent students. Semesters students come from the US for one semester and want to travel all over Europe. You end up traveling every weekend. Permanent students are doing their 4 years in the Madrid campus and have either travelled already all over Europe or space them out throughout the years. Nevertheless, there’s always exceptions.
