Course recommendations
Try to have between your friends someone who study the same as you. Sometimes the courses are very technical and you understand scarcely anything. If a friend of you goes in the same course both of you can help each other.

Personal comments
At the beginning it was difficult to make oneself understood due to my limited vocabulary. In spite of this people were open enough and were very patient trying to understand that that I was saying. Currently these initial problems have disappeared and both my partners and I can enjoy a nice conversation in German.

Final comments
One of the first thing you should to do is to buy a bike. This city is swamped with them. You can go everywhere swiftly and costless. I bought that of mine in a fleamarket and I am very satistied.

This university offers to students extensive possibilities for housing: An der Schunter, APM or Langer Kamp are an example of this. The rent is usually cheapest than in a shared housing (Wohngemeinschaften). I have lived in the Schunter and every month I had to pay only €160. This included warm water, heating, and a shared kitchen and bath. The kitchen had all the facilities that can be found in every ordinary kitchen: fridge, electric cooker, cupboards, etc. There exists also a pair of washmaschines and tumble dryer.

The surrondings of the principal area of the University are plenty of Cafés. I have visited practically all: Dialog, Viertel Nacht, Schüssel, Herr Mann's or Eusebia are an example of them. The atmosphere is very relaxing, especially with a "Becher Milchkaffe" between my hands and a pleasing conversation with friends. In the city centre you can find the biggest concentration of Italian Cafes. The decoration makes you think that you are in the vey Italia! Very cosy.
