HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I live close to the University and within walking distance to the town in a nice area.
Personal comments:
The flat I live in, is one of the best flats provided by the University. The rooms are of good size and not overly expensive. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Paard Cafe - One of the best places to go if you love live music, there is often bands playing on a Wednesday and Friday night for free. These are new and upcoming bands, the drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is lively! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
As the course was taught in English, I chose a Dutch class and Dutch Culture class so I could be able to ommunicate in the Netherlands albeit basic Dutch but it made me feel attached to the Netherlands and to understand the history/culture behind the country. EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Government assistance An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Compared to the UK, some aspects are cheaper in continental Europe such as food and clothing. I spent more on travel to make the most of my time in the Netherlands by travelling around the country and to the neighbouring countries. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Buy a discount rail card! Also look out for special offers and student offers! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
