Description:
The University of Santiago de Compostela commemorated the 500th anniversary of its founding in 1995. This institution, which maintains one of the most important academic traditions in Europe, was established as a "Grammatic Academy " as early as 1495 by Don Lope Gómez de Marzoa.

Nowadays, the University of Santiago is organised into two campuses: one is located in Compostela and the other in Lugo (the two thousand-year-old town named " Lucus Augusta " after Augustus, the Roman emperor).
Both campuses complement each other, aiming to construct a unity despite the different specializations each of them offers.

I would recommend that they make it more accessible to meet international students.

Bring boots for the rainy climate and find a place to live where you really think you will be comfortable because that can make your life great or awful.

This part of Spain is so beautiful and off the brainless tourist trail. Go and enjoy.

I know there is an Erasmus program there. I would recommend going. It's a beautiful city and a great time. Late spring and summer are definately the time to be there.

Attempt to mix with local students as opposed to mixing with other ERASMUS students solely.

Take long walks early on allowing you to experience the city and help find your way around later on as the campus is split in three parts.

The extent to which the local language is used, with Galego people tend to dismiss it as a dying tongue, it isn't and you should be prepared to meet the odd person who refuses to speak Castilian. However given a few months it won't matter because you will have picked up enough of it to understand anyway.

Enjoy it! The people can be quirky, the teachers a bit shoirt at times but just appreciate the place for what it is, and have fun.

Don't hesitate about going on a year abroad, although it seems scary and you will be homesick for a while, it'll be worth it. You will gain so much both academically and personally from the experience. As for Santiago, just don't be put off by the rain!!

Study! It's not so easy to pass w/ a good mark the exams, they're quite stricts, but the professors are very kind and helpfulness.

This univeristy is a good school, but if you don't want dreary weather for the most part of your studies choose another area.

Univeristy ain't that great on the English but people and the city are unforgettable. You will have fun!

Get a private apartment, tehre plenty to choose from, enjoy the nightlife which is REALLY active and drink lots of red wine!
