Course recommendations:
French universities put a lot of emphasis on practical case studies which I find a good way to grasp concepts and put them into practise. I followed mostly marketing courses and they were all quite good. As far as languages were concerned, the compulsory French as a foreign language subject was excellent. We started from the basics and as the weeks went by we covered all the French grammar. The teacher was obviously very prepared and used to teach to foreign students. I cannot say the same for the languages standard taught to French pupils. I studied Spanish during the entire period and learnt very little.

Personal comments:
There should be more interaction with professors and more support. They did not pay much attention to foreign students.

Course recommendations:
Expect many changes to the course calendars, including timetable changes and course cancellations. It may be difficult to organize the timetable, seeing how most international students take courses from different cycles.

Personal comments:
You will most likely be working in groups consisiting of French and international students. This will probably be the best way to get to know the French students. They were very friendly and helpful when it came to projects and asssignments.

Course recommendations:
Maitrise literature course based on the theme of uncanny doubles/doppelgangers. First year module on Romantic literature also covered some really fascinating authors including Charles Baudelaire.

Personal comments:
More contact with university tutors as well as social events where International students and French students would be able to meet up. There were several of these meetings planned but not until later in the academic year.

Course recommendations:
It's necessary no choose courses in the language of the host country cos it's the best way to improve language.

Personal comments:
the treatment of Erasmus is the same as the local students and in my opinion it shouldn't be like this because the Erasmus doesn't speak French as good as French people.

Course recommendations:
The teaching methods and contents of the courses very different at least in marketing. I choose a few language courses which were better. The French for foreigners is very good

They could do more to interact international students with the locals for group projects

Course recommendations:
Good luck. Courses in France lack structure and administration is a nightmare. But if you take it for what it is, it's fine. It's all a learning experience.

Having course descriptions available to exchange students would be extremely helpful.

Try to meet French teachers who are teaching in English and check their level of that language ;)

Try to meet locals, its the best in discovering the culture and learning the language.. In France its very difficult though..

Don't mind picking courses before you arrive - you will have to do it all over again. To get the schedule to fit in with all your choices - you might as well wait.

It is hard to compare my uni in Lyonwith one at home. Teaching in France is so different to how you teach in Sweden. In Sweden interaction is encouraged - in France it frowned upon. That was probably my main issue.

Course recommendations:
Business wise the MBA lectures are very interesting, the SELF program which is taught in english is good as well but a little un-challenging

If French teachers could understand that interaction between teachers and students is a must that would increase ones experiences a great deal.

They just teach in a very different way in France than Im used to! But once you learn how it works it is fine!

The optional courses are undoubtedly the most interesting. Lots of language courses, for nearly every language imaginable!

Very hard to talk to professors. You have to flag them down between classes, and even then they're not always happy to talk to you and answer questions.
