Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
My English was already fluent when I decided to have this experience abroad, but my English has certainly improved after this studying period at Swansea. I was able to learn specific vocabulary related to Business studies, and I had the opportunity to talk in English most all the time I spent in the UK, which made my speaking much better and gave me the possibility to learn some slang. I also improved my French because there were lots of French speakers studying in Swansea. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Communication was unexpectedly halted after I had been in Wales only five days, due to the events of September 11. But, looking beyond that, communicaton was fairly effective at Swansea. We were able to learn a little Welsh and, more over, were able to get a sense of the tones and accents of our fellow Welsh, English, Scottish and Irish students. I'm doing international studies in the Netherlands, so I have to speak english anyway when I'm at the University, therefore my English was already pretty good before I went. however, I have learned some slang, And I think that generaly I was a bit more comfortable with speaking english at the end of the period than at the beginning. My English had already improved through living and studying in Nottingham for half a year. Therefore, the language was no problem for me this time. I felt confident and never had the feeling that I had troubles writing essays or understanding lecturers. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My English was good when I came to Swansea and it was excellent at the end of my stay, thanks to my flatmates who tought me English through casual conversation . Reading the paper regularly also helped a good deal to learn formal English,. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
