Personal recommendation:
It is a great univeristy to expereince a truly German university town. There is plenty to do for a student- parties, going out, sports, good study options too... The town is sweet, and accessible, espically with a bike.



FINAL COMMENTS

Find a tandem partner- either by enlisting in a program, or just make your own sign. I have a life-long friend because of it. Also, live with students where German is the common language. If you want to learn German, don't talk English, or be in the situation where you can!

My local university didn´t give me much information about the host university. I had to look for a lot by myself or with help from the Uni of göttingen. It would have helped to have here more information in my language and, for example, experiences from other students that had been in there before me.

Personal recommendation:
I think this is a good University to make a course abroad. There are a lot of foreign students and because of this, the people of the university know what are the problems we have when we arrive there and they try to help you as much as they can. Moreover, the university is one of the most important things in Göttingen. So a lot of things are adapted to students´needs (it is not very expensive, there is a lot of nightlife, the university has very good facilities...)



FINAL COMMENTS

If you are thinking about making an Erasmus course, you shouldn´t think about this anymore..Do it! and you will see that this is one of the best experiences you would ever have...

I recommend this experience and I recommend this University.Goettingen can offer all that a student needs and likes.And German people aren't so boring.They're friendly.

I could'n imagine that was such a good experience.I would like to do it again and I recommend it.I've never learned so much before:a new culture,language,people.Now I'm feeling a different person

I knew only the number of the population . It was a small town, I knew somebody close from the town, and she said it was a really nice place. I read something about the town.

It´s a really fantastic Uni, the german student are friendly, and most of them want to know Erasmus students.

that you have to get the SIM-lock off your mobile phone before coming to Germany to put a German SIM-card

Goettingen is maybe the best you can find..there's all a student needs..people are usually kind with students, they help you and..I had a lot of fun!

Brilliant school and I had a lot of fun. Most of the teachers are ok even though the courses are considerably less well-structured than the ones in Uppsala.

I would not do any recommendation, everybody were so lovely to me that I would not change something.

Maybe to choose courses you're really interested in (if it's possible) or... courses attended by many people (there's always a reason!)

You have to find time to take advantage of the possibility of travels (especially at week ends), knowing people, culture and language and having fun! It doesn't mean to forget the university, but there's time for everything...

Personal recommendation:
Make archives and libraries more accessible for international students. Make the university archives more accessible in general - when I was there, these archives were open for perhaps 3 hours per day, and nothing was particularly well-indexed. The staff at the university archives were also profoundly unhelpful.

If you are going to be using archival materials, be sure to have a letter (or letters) of introduction sent beforehand, and bring copies of the letters and your passport to the archives before starting out.
