The good thing is that my country has 2 local languages, Dutch which i speak not at all and French which i speak pretty well. But the problem is that at school is everything in Dutch even the things which are concerned for the Erasmus students are in Dutch. Our coordinator comunicated with us always in English but most of the papers written by the administration was in dutch and we were really struggeling some times because we didnt know if some courses were deleted or replaced or something else. I think this has to be improved, because it must not be expected from Erasmus students to speak Dutch. Everything that is concerned for them should be in English. Ik hou van nederlands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the onluy problem I had was in the beginning, when i enrolled for Frans III: the class was composed only by flemish people and me... The problem was when I had to make a presentation with three of them...we coulnd't understand each other... but, fortunately the 2nd semester made me understand theese three (especially 2 ugly -in all senses- girls!!!) where peculiar cases... my other mates were really nice and we could talk also in dutch many times...i went 0out with a girl also...with all other international students of course no proble, because also of the fact that we were all in the same situation. However, With some people I made really close relationships... from all over europe and not only .. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

In Brussels the most spoken languages are flemish and french. Becaus eof the fact that flemish is more or less the same as dutch, i faced no problems communicating. I tried to speek french and managed to improve my french as well. At the uni everybody speeks english so that was no problem at all. I improved a lot my English even if most lecturers were not native English speakers (except one). As other students are in your same situation you don't feel unesay when you speak English. Even when you habe a talk with dutch students (who are very good in English) they make you at easy. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

As Belgium has two official languages it is even more difficult, because I don't know any of them. On average, some misunderstanding appeared quite often in public places. In university no problems occured, as mostly everybody speaks very good English. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I came to learn French. However, most people spoke English or wanted to so I ended up not improving my French very much. There was a large presence of Italian students So now I am learning Italian and will move there soon an hopefully become fluent. Brussels is a biligual country. That's why if you know French or Dutch it would help you in daily life and of course in education. But if you know English you can face with some little difficulties but no more than this. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The english experience has been perfect, studying throughout one year economic texts it gave me the technical vocabulary I lacked. Now I am also able to recognize different accents of foreigners in english. I had the opportunity to learn french, being brussels french/dutch speaker. I studied it first at EHSAL, then I took a 120 hours course at Universitè Libre de Bruxelles, obtaining a diploma. I am especially glad of my English skills improvement. The stay here was a good opportunity for me to gain new business vocabulary and to become more fluent and confident when using it. the other hand the stay here was a good occasion to learn something new for example to start learning French which I am going to continue back in Poland. Although my English was rather good before going to Brussels, i noticed improvements on it, as it was the language used by international students and our courses were in English. Although the language of the host university was Flemish, most of us preferred to follow french lessons. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
