HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Hall of residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Hall of residence
Why? Because we could live with other students like me.
Personal comments:
This university offers to students extensive possibilities for housing: An der Schunter, APM or Langer Kamp are an example of this. The rent is usually cheapest than in a shared housing (Wohngemeinschaften). I have lived in the Schunter and every month I had to pay only €160. This included warm water, heating, and a shared kitchen and bath. The kitchen had all the facilities that can be found in every ordinary kitchen: fridge, electric cooker, cupboards, etc. There exists also a pair of washmaschines and tumble dryer. STUDENT LIFE
by athalberthk, Universitat Jaume I, Castello, Spain
Engineering, Computer, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
The surrondings of the principal area of the University are plenty of Cafés. I have visited practically all: Dialog, Viertel Nacht, Schüssel, Herr Mann's or Eusebia are an example of them. The atmosphere is very relaxing, especially with a "Becher Milchkaffe" between my hands and a pleasing conversation with friends. In the city centre you can find the biggest concentration of Italian Cafes. The decoration makes you think that you are in the vey Italia! Very cosy. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Try to have between your friends someone who study the same as you. Sometimes the courses are very technical and you understand scarcely anything. If a friend of you goes in the same course both of you can help each other.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
I definitely noticed a big improvement in understanding German before and after my experience. This is most apparently in how much I absorbed in lectures during the first compared to second semester. Another thing is, the more you speak, the more you pick up. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely try to speak more. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
All in all my experience went quite smoothly. I did enough research to settle down and the surprises were minor and a learning experience. I would suggest to do some homework before departure, and then things should work out fine. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Study hard, play hard! (And make sure you schedule your time accordingly. Some courses require a lot of work and need to study ahead of time to do well. This doesn't come easily since there are no assignments, midterms, projects etc during the term) FINAL COMMENTS
Germany is located at the center to western europe and there are many many good deals/flights to many different countries. Look around and take advantage of that. The transportation in Europe is also very good to get from one country to another. Be safe, and have fun! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
