HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? to become more immersed in the language. There were too many English-speaking people on my corridor.
Personal comments:
Excellent if you get a room in the StuSie area by the beautiful lake and only a short tram ride away from the university and town centre. I was in Europa House, which though you get an ensuite shower and small kitchenette to yourself, has the disadvantage of housing loads of international students so everyone speaks english. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
Excellent, though a shame so much english spoken everywhere. People just lapsed into it. You were thought a bit annoying if you insisted on speaking german. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Personal savings DAAD Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Food from supermarkets is very good value. Obviously, i was making international calls, which i don't do at home. Travel was expensive as i wasn't there for long enough for it to be worth getting a railcard. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Overall: was the same price as at home. Food, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
ikea for everything:) but not pots or pans, far too expensive there. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
how much stuff i would need to buy to make my room livable in. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It may be less comfortable and you may have less personal space, but do try to see whether you can live with some GERMAN students or a family - at least for a while. FINAL COMMENTS
Get there at least a couple of working week days in advance. Good to find your bearings, sort out money etc. Also, if for any reason you're starting the course late, check check CHECK there will still be a room available and they won't have given it to somebody else - as happened with me...! I turned up to find someone elses jeans and shoes all over the room... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
