Personal comments
At the beginning my English was bad and it was hard to meet people. But I improved my English and my communication very fast. However, I should have tried to meet more local people because I stayed mostly with the foreign students and sometimes I feel I havent improved that much my English

Personal spending habits
A mobile Sim Card is very cheap in England compared with France (I recomend Virgin mobile). And wanted to enjoy so I went out and travelled a lot. But at the end I spent less than in France cause in France I have no grant while in the UK I had the erasmus grant.

It's hard to open a bank account when you stay only one semester. Tell the bank that you stay one year.
Then it's very easy to find a job in Cambridge. You can work flexible for a work agency such as Blue Arrow or Berkley Scott.
Various colleges of the University of Cambridge are constantly looking for catering staff, mainly waiters. Introduce yourself in many colleges and ask them if they need staff.

If you are not used to the kinf of weather or food like in England, mayb it will be hard for you at the beginning. But just take it easy, meet many people, work (it's very interesting to work in Cambridge and it's good money), do many activities (societies at the Uni, sport, ...) and have fun!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I lived in a shared house with other foreign students and I really got on well with them(and we kept in touch). I enjoyed this life in community so I think this is the best accomodation option to meet people and make real friends.

The standard of APU shared houses is quite low but the rent is cheap (around £200 per month) compared with private housing. Moreover the APU accomodation office is always available to sort out technical problems in the house.

Personal comments
Cambridge is plenty of pubs and nightclubs and there are many international students parties every week. I'd recomend The Junction, a very good nightclubs with famous/good Djs and venues od electro/hip-hop music. But as you know probably, in England pubs and nightclubs close very early so another alternative to party is to go to a "house party". House parties are private student parties that take place in shared houses and anybody can go as long as everybody bring his own drink. It's a bit individualistic, but a very good way to meet people.
