A lot more spent on food since we lived in a big appartment and had some dinners. Also, while sharing an appartment you tend to eat more and better (there is always somebody who feels like cooking). Eating out was also a little more expensive since in Uppsala you can eat cheap at the student nations. Wine (food? Yes, we're in France) and cheese were large spending accounts. Travel...Ireally think you should take the opportunity to see the country that you are in. I would happily spend even more if necessary on travelling. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Cost savings - share an appartment (but with french people if you want to learn French...). You get "Allocation familiale", sort of a housing allowance, from the french government if you are a citizen of the European community. LOTS of administrative work but worth while when you get the money :) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Well, the cost of life in the UK is much higher than in France, however there are much more opportunities to have apart time job in the UK than in France, which balances things up a bit. Travel, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food, Nightlife, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Accomodation agencies will take a large fee, the French have not yet abandoned the bureaucracy structure in their administration, they are mad about "dossiers" (files) and each dossiers has apparently a cost attached to it. The social security coverage for international students is a joke, you may aswell take a course on bureacracy to get by and get your health pay for (70%) by the French Authorities. travel costs more to go from country to country (ie uk france) than it would if iwere traveling domestically in the uk (ie uni home). going out is a lot more expensive, but eating is similarly priced and alot cheaper in restaurants. Electricity is expensive but heating is not needed during summer so much, so it works out about the same. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
cost saving tips - book travel home well in advance, low cost airlines have minimal "cheap seats" which go quickly This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
