The Boat is a nice place to go. There's also a few nice cafés that i can remember. It was 7 years ago, so I'm having trouble remembering. The main disco was a little out of town and you had to go through the red light district but once you got there it was fun!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
There were so many people living there, it was hard not to bump into people and make friends. Also living in student accommodation off campus meant spending time with "real" Germans/German speakers and not with English people. I had no choice but to speak German.

The housing was excellent. It's ran by a very efficient landlady, who is always on call if anything goes wrong. You have a reasonable sized single room with a sink. There are toilets and shower in the corridors and enough, so that you're never waiting for them.

Being integrated into a situation where only german was spoken was perfect for me. I had no opportunity to even try to revert back into English. I was pushed to use my german knowledge and I appreciate that. my language skills increased immensely.

Academic
Course recommendations
If studying languages then obviously choose language based courses, such as translation. I also did a history course, something to do with "Stereotypen und Reisen", which was very interesting. If Matthias Wagner is still teaching there, I recommend his courses.
