At that time (92-93)there wasn't really a system to help the students from abroad to find a place to live.

More academic interaction with the local students, exchanging academic experiences. Maybe create a forum where the Catalan and the foreign students could interact, both academically and socially

Personal recommendation
The local (catalan) students at ESADE tend to be a bit snobbish and somewhat hard to get in contact with. But there is a great Norwegian "community" at this university that you should get in touch with, especially for cultural activities and nightlife experience! Also nearby university IESE (across the street basically) has a lot of foreign students.

Final comments
Join some of the cultural and sports activities as soon as possible. Good for language training, making contacts and finding people to party with. Take initiative and form your own groups, fx a dancing group, food group, health center & aerobics group...etc.
Do not choose to live in Sitges, even though the apartment prices during winter are low there. It takes too long to travel into town, you get isolated from social activities. Don´t choose downtown either, the area around Ramblas is too "heavy" and noisy to be able to study in. Fun to visit - bad to live there!

Be sure to have good health insurance. Be sure to register at the police & immigration offices if you are to study in Spain for more than a few months (it saves a lot of trouble - and money - should you become ill or have an injury)

One of the most important reasons to choose Spain, and ESADE has a very good language training center, where we perfectionated our castellano before starting the real academic courses.
