I recommend not coming to Spain without knowing any Spanish, as the general level of English there is very low in comparison to other countries. Also, I saw that Spanish is not the dominant language in Barcelona - Catalan rules the city! But don't worry about that, everyone speaks Spanish too, and hardly anybody expects foreigners to learn Catalan (they do like when you do, though).

Barcelona is one of the most expensive Spanish cities, but still quite cheap in comparison to places like US, UK, Scandinavia, Switzerland, ... Basically I spent more money because I went out much more than at home!

I was pretty well-informed - maybe apart from the fact that I didn't know that it can rain a lot in Spain...

ESADE is a very nice place for an exchange - it's a small private university, very well equipped, you get to know Spanish people rather easily, Barcelona is simply a great city... Go for it, if you can!

Final comments
I recommend everybody that they inform themselves before going abroad. I saw a lot of people that came to Barcelona completely unprepared (e.g. not knowing anything about the difference Catalonia-Spain) and had a very hard time in the beginning. The ESADE intranet offers perfect service for academic matters, several webpages can help you in finding accomodation, and there are many travel guides that offer you some cultural information.
All in all, it's a great place to be - I'm sad my exchange is over now!

ESADE doesn't help you in finding accomodation, but it's not that hard. You should try to make contacts already before coming to Barcelona (Intranet ESADE, www.habitatgejove.com, iAgora, www.cemsclub.org, ...) However, don't go to Residencia Sarria - it's way too expensive and very far away from all the fun places in Barcelona.
