In the beginning the courses at ESADE were pretty difficult. I didn´t speak so much Spanish. But since you want to interact with other people and understand the content of the courses you are motivated to learn very rapidly. Besides that I had a Spanish roommate that helped me a lot with my Spanish.

I wish I had known...
I wished I had known more time in advance that I was going to Barcelona. Then I would have studied more Spanish in advance and my Spanish would have been even better.

ESADE is a well-organised university. It is small and if you are there only for a short period it is certainly an advantage, because you get to know lots of people.

Barcelona is a wonderfull city to live in. Life there is amazing and if you go there you should try every aspect of it. The cultural things, the nightlife, the streetlife, places in region like the Dali museum and Cadaques and so on.

Personal spending habits
I spend a lot of money on telephone, because my boyfriend was at the same time doing an internship in Bangkok and calling to Thailand was very expensive. Nightlife was more expensive for two reasons. One is that the drinks and entrances in Spain are higher than in my home country. The second reason is that I went out a lot more in Barcelona than I normally do in Holland. I spend more on travelling because I wanted to see some cities outside Barcelona and didn´t have a public transport card like I have in Holland.

Sorry, I cannot think of any. I can only tell that going out for dinner is in Barcelona really cheap and allmost as expensive as eating at home. So it´s recommendable to go out for your dinner.

In ESADE, Barcelona I have had a great time. I liked it very much to meet so many international people and learn to speak Spanish. ESADE was very well-organised and has provided some very interesting courses, like videoconferences about strategic issues with international students in other cities and other countries.

My favourite night spot was certainly the Danzatoria. It is a very trendy bar (actually it looks more like a club) with different levels with different rooms with different music and a beautiful garden. It is very nice to hang out there. You always have a good time. Just looking at the people is fun. Besides this I liked Paloma, which is a big dancing hall. These are my two favourites. Besides this I also liked going out in my own street (Maria Cubi), which is really famous for the bars and discos for students.
