Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It was nice to live with others in a house, could get isolated otherwise. Living away from Campus gave more freedom and a welcome change of scenery. Independence without being lonely.

Personal comments
Campus residences varied but even the most basic was satisfactory. The university provided help finding accomodation if necessary through the CROUS office and the option to stay the year in residences was available.

Best clubs are out of town though students all tended to head to Paradis on Student night. Make sure Bonne Maman Creperie gets a visit, along with Chez Olive, The Berry and Etna (excellent food). The conemara is always a favourite among the bars, busy with a dance floor.

Plenty of chance to practice all aspects of French language and became well grounded and at ease with formal and informal French. Good mix of business vocabulary, formal phrases and slang acquired.

Personal recommendation
Good University, benefits from being close to Atlantic and Med as well as the mountains for skiing in winter. However, it is fairly small so may become a little claustrophobic. Best combination is 6months at ESC Pau, 6months working.
