If returning, I would choose: a foyer
Why? If at all possible, it is extremely beneficial to live in a foyer with other students or young workers within a similar age group because it is afforable, and provides an opportunity to get to know natives and other Europeans.
Personal comments:
I was very pleased with the housing option, the foyer, because it had all of the services I could need at a very affordable price. I had my own room, with a refridgerator, and shared a kitchen on my floor. Aside from that, there was a larger kitchen in the common area of the building as well as an internet/computer lab. It was very safe and there was always someone on duty to serve as the security and help for the building.

Personal comments:
I loved the Frog and Princess café in Saint Germain des Pres as well as the cafés in St. Michel. I enjoyed going to Bastille at night because there was always a lot of people with whom I could mingle and mix and the restaurants and bars were fun, affordable and exciting!

Course recommendations:
If you are going to make the best of it, speak the language (French) in AND out of the classroom. I spoke French at all times and I am virtually fluent now. It feels wonderful to immerse yourself!

Because you tend to spend more when you're in a new place and are drawn to the shops, cafés and activities that may cost money to participate.
Food, Travel, Overall: was more expensive than at home.

Personal comments:
Do not use traveller's checks, they are useless. Use a debit card or credit card for purchases and use the ATM machines that are plentiful.
