Type of housing: student residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would choose the same student residence again as it's close to university and most other exchange students live there too
Personal comments:
I stayed in the International House. Although the rent is high and the facilities aren't the best I would recommend it to everyone as all exchange students live there and it's very close to the university. Alternatively, Casa Erasmus is across the road and cheaper, so that is also a good option. Housing is arranged through the international office, one can say preferences in terms of type of housing and prices.

If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Living on campus gave me the chance to meet a lot of new and international people. I think this one of the best things it can ever happen to someone, since it is the best way to learn about different cultures, different work-methos or about how to match with people that is different from you.
Personal comments:
The housing at the Erasmus University was pretty good. It wsa so close to the university, and even if it was a bit expensive to be made for students, it was a great opportunity to meet people from different countries and cultures.

Why? Because, despite the price, it would be worth to be closer to more foreign students and the accomodation itself should be better than the one I experienced.
Personal comments:
It was a personal option because of the price generaly practiced there for foreign students. I had all I needed, in fact.Besides that I had a great environment at home with not so many people as in a campus, but quite close to the campus and also with other foreign students.

Type of housing: Dorms, off campus

If returning, I would choose: Same as I lived in
Why? Most exchange students live in the I-House, the dorm that I stayed in. As such, you get to know all the students pretty well and always have people to hang out with.
Personal comments:
The I-house is a 10-15 minute walk and probably the best choice if you are btwn 19-25 years, any older and you'll feel like a mom or dad as it is the centre for parties and hanging out

Why? 'cause in a campus you can never be alone (even for a moment), and sometimes it's dificult to study!! however an apartment very near the campus, 'cause I could't live without "social life"
Personal comments:
I think they really do their best, attending the number of students. the acommodation is expensive for us, students, but is't everthing expensive in Holland!!!

Personal comments:
I was proposed housing by the university, which I declined because it was too small, probably noisy. I did select alternative housing myself, but allthough more comfortable, it was also quite expensive and it limited my contacts with other students, because of increased travel times.

Why? The apartment provided by the university can be really good... if you are Dutch! But it is also possible to find something on your own.
Personal comments:
The building itself was okay. But some problems appeared soon after the arrival. Firstly the rent suddenly increased a lot, without any warning. Secondly, a worksite (very noisy)started one month after arrival and this only few meters from our building. Thridly, we couldn't negociate an other telecom provider than the one furnished by the University. Fourthly, frustrating feeling (which does not help the relation with the locals) when we realiseed that the Dutch students paid much less for a much better apartment. But the relationship with the international student was great.

Why? The Erasmus International House was the perfect place to live for an exchange student!
Personal comments:
The housing is arranged in general very well, though of course there are always some things that do not work. The best thing about living in International House, Casa Erasmus or Erasmus Lodge is the hundreds of other exchange students living with you! The rooms are quite spacious and the flats are shared only between two or three persons. There is an easy transportation from the place to basically everywhere.
