HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Student dorms out of campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Student dorms out of campus
Why? Good environment, many choices available, surrounded by people with alike interests, cultural exchange.
Personal comments:
New built dorms, in a very good shape, far from the city center, close from the university, all services available. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Irish Pub (Karaoke Might), Internationa, Parties at students dorms, parties at school... not many clubs available This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The courses offered for International students are only available for them so is hard to interact with local students.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I would suggest more interaction between local and international students as well as professors. More courses available, and a bit more work during the semester because students are graded on the basis of a single project (not so difficult) during the whole semester. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
The professor in charge of teaching the local language (german) was not clear all the time, so it was hard to understand her, it was also a bit frustrating because she didn't create the correct environment to learn (she laughed at the students when they made a mistake, causing some students to drop the course) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
The cost of living is higher in Germany than in Mexico. For travel, I did it more often than at my home country. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Not may bank machines around the city. The student dorms have the very basic items so I had to buy or borrow much more and in the end give them away or throw them to the garbage. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
A bit more of the local language, I only took a short course before, which was not enough. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I believe they need a bit mor of organization. The people in the IP Office should be able to speak other language besides german to make communication easier. Offer more extra-curricular activities such sports, workshops, foreign languages courses. FINAL COMMENTS
Always travel in groups, 2 to 5 people is ok, more than that is crazy. Look for hostels, and discounts, you can get good deals. Germany is a beautiful country, get to know it in advance, read about the culture so you can enjoy everything the country offers.
