Personal spending habits
Sweden is very expensive in particular when you want to go out a lot. In most clubs you have to pay an entrance of about 6-9€ plus 2€ for your jacket. Alcohol is also very expensive, don´t be surprised to pay up to 7€ for one beer. But in the course of time you will find cheap places to go out. I think to telephone is less expensive than in my home country.

Try to find pubs to go out not at the "Avenue". The cheapest supermarket is "Willy´s". Try to get a bike from one of the students leaving Gothenburg.

Try to go to Stockholm, Uppsala, Kiruna and Lund. If you have time and money left, you have to go to Norway to see the Fjords and to Kopenhagen. Both places are not very far from Gothenburg.

Academic
Course recommendations
All courses held by Mr. Charles Nadeau are very good although they are not easy. There are plenty of economics courses which are also very demanding.

If you don´t have to pass a specific level (C/D)from your home university try to attend lower levels. In each course you have to write Essays and papers in groups, try to begin early with the work!

Housing
Type of housing: student residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: student residence
Why?
you get to know many students and you have more fun than in an appartment. Just make sure, that you are staying either in Helmutsrogatan or Olofshöjd!

The "Avenue" is the main street in Gothenburg and there you have plenty of pubs, clubs and cafes like: Barbar, Diamonds & Dogs, Valand, Excet, Nivo, the Dubliners... Don´t miss Linnégatan which is a street more in the east, also with lots of pubs and good prices. If you are going during the summer term to Gothenburg, don´t miss Varborg and Midsommer!
