It worths visiting the Scandinavian countries if you never had the chances. If you are in Sweden, I totally recommend go to Lapland where you can see the Northen Lights if you're lucky and experience a different pace of life. Read Review

HOUSING
Personal assessment

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because, almost all the students are living there and the facilities such as internet, washing rooms, lockers are in a very good conditions. The way to the university is not the best during winter although there is a bus which stops quite close to the building.
Personal comments:
The university itself is in really good conditions and the library has amazing facilities, comfortable and pleasent working areas. My only concern was about the program I studied which wasn't apropiate to the level I have had in my home university in Barcelona.

Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Well, Gävle isn't characterize as a very vivid town compare to Barcelona. Probably the places you shouldn't skip are the university parties at the student union building. In addition, there is a couple of famous clubs in town where everyone goes. Also, between the Swedes going to the mall is a common thing. Mostly because the temperature in winter droops down to -20 and inside the mall there is restaurants and the only licor shop in the whole town.

KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
The really good thing of Högskolan i Gävle for engineers is the program I could chose. Going on Erasmus I decided to undertaken a master energy program. So at the same time I finished Uni back home, because of the Erasmus agreement, I also have a Master program called Energy Systems.

Personal comments:
Regarding my experience between studies in Barcelona and Sweden. Sweden is way easier and some times during the Swedish program I felt bored and not very interested because I had already done it in my home university.

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Phone deals are way cheaper than home. Housing was expensive to be Gävle, wouldn't imagine Stockholm, as the capital of the country. Nightlife was the most expensive thing. Alcohol and cigarettes have higher taxes than in Spain, so takes time to change the way of going out.
Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.

Academic reasons
KEY:
Very Important.

Campus life
Party / people
Weather / Location
I wish I had known...
Not really. Surprises are good and more when you go on Erasmus where most of the people you meet are in the same situation.
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
For an engineer is not the best University excluding the great deal with the Master Energy Program. This University is more for Nursing or Teaching degrees.
