a good experience but an expensive country, this means that money is quite important here! people here are trusting more on their social system than on their own family. Read Review

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I need to be independent and I will have more freedom which is vital for my productivity and creativity.
Personal comments:
Initially the University provided rooms which had good facilities but, after a semester since the number of students increased it was very difficult to live with other students in a single apartment. So I looked for an independent apartment of my own. Moreover the University apartments were very expensive in view with the facilities they provide. On the other hand it was situated in a very butiful location.

Disappointing.
Variety of courses

The intercultural coureses are very good and interesting. I wouldn't chose the Organization course -> a lot of work, very difficult exam and the teacher isn't dis-organized

Social
KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish
How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Basic phrases
Personal comments:
Swedes are very capable of speaking English. Actually, i've taken a Swedish course in Falun (Sweden) before moving to Halmstad. Later, i've tried to practice my Swedish but i have never come across such a situation in which i had to use my Swedish. Whenever you have difficulty speaking Swedish, you can speak English and Swedes will perfectly understand you. This may sound great BUT you can not practice Swedish even in Sweden!!!

Second-hand text books
KEY:

Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Bank Loan
Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience
Personal spending habits:
In India prices are much lower than that in Sweden for everything including Food, housing, telephone and travel.
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The cost of living is the highest compared to education.Since sweden has a state funded education there are no tuition fees, expect there is very minimal fee to be paid for student union. Cost of living can be saved by looking for retail shops which have more imported goods, since swedish products are considered very expensive.
