Don't miss the night markets in Temple Street and Mong Kok. Go for some fun in Lan Kwai Fong and Wanchai (pubs&clubs) but don't get hooked. Try the peace of outlying islands like Lantau or Lamma.

Well since you are exploring, you go out more and travel around more. So you spend more... Nightlife and accommodation are of the most expensive in the world. Food can be pretty cheap unless you go to restaurants too often.

That part is a bit difficult since english and chinese are both official languages there. Most people speak english although cantonese is the language you will hear all around.
But english is the medium of instruction.
