Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin, Germany
Description:
The university was founded in Berlin in 1810, and the foundation concept of Wilhelm von Humboldt gave it the title "Mother of all modern universities". This concept envisaged a "Universitas litterarum" which would achieve a unity of teaching and research and provide students with an all-round humanist education. This concept spread throughout the world and gave rise to the foundation of many universities of the same type over the next century and a half.

Dont worry, Berlin is so cheap any administrative nightmares (ie accomodation) can be sorted out on arrival. Get Angemeldet immediatly, you are not a human without an "Anmeldebescheinigung". It is a prerequisite for: bank account, registration at uni, telephone and most other essentials. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Dont expect luxuries or support from the Uni, get on with it and you will have the time of your life. FINAL COMMENTS

I wish I'd known how fantastic and therefore dangerous to the credit card Berlin is! It was very easy to overspend massively.... In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

Personal recommendation:
Its a great and renowned university with good services and an amazing location. FINAL COMMENTS
Perhaps this wouldn't be the place to come to lift your grade because there's so much going on on every other level that focusing on your studies may prove tricky. I wasn't there in winter but I hear they have serious winters and alot of the cheaper accomodation will have coal ovens to heat them - very beautiful and decorative, but a real nightmare to keep stoked, especially if you live on the top floor ( a lot of carrying) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

If you have the opportunity to go to a city like Berlin take it. There is so much to do and if you take every opportunity both socially and academically you will have an incredible time. One piece of advise I would give is on arrival at your host city take up as many hobbies, join societies, speak to as many poeple and get as involved as you can, as it will help you settle in and set the pace for the rest of the year.
