I think it is good to try everything. There are a lot of pubs in each part of Lisbon. Cafes, I liked tipical portuguese bars with galao and cake bolacha :)

Portuguese people when they see someone trying to speak Portuguese they are very nice to that person. If you speak Spanish it helps a lot in communication.
