Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because I had more independence. In Mexico the student's residences are very good but there are many rules, like hours, visits, authorisation to go out, etc.

Personal comments
At the university there are a department just dedicated to students housing. If you want you can stay at the residence and if not, they have many options for you (family, renting apartments, etc). Or you can just find a house by your self, like I've done.

Academic
Course recommendations
The courses are really good, but very demanding as well. I've taken courses in English and in Spanish. The ones in english are more demanding. To whom that doesn't speak good spanish, I recomend to take the courses in english

Languages
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I'had already known spanish before I go Mexico, but of course I've improved it, especially because I've lived with mexican, spanish, and other european people. That was one of the most important things that I've learned in Mexico, the culture and communication between different countries.

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience
Personal spending habits
The categories that I spent more than at home is just because at home I live with my parents, I don't travel so much in my native country and the phone because of the international calls to Portugal. But in general, the life in Mexico is much cheaper than in Lisbon
