Housing
Type of housing: Student Home/Heim
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Student home
Why?
I would choose to live there because they are cheap and you meet alot of people your own age there as well. They are nice to live in at the start of your time there because you need to get to know some people.

The accommadation at the university was very nice. The room I lived in had eveything I need but an oven but we managed without that. Our room was cleaned once a week and our bed clothes, which they supllied was washed every second week, so it was a very clean place to live.

Student life
Describe host city:
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal social experience
Personal comments
They best places to go to in Linz would be the student pub, Lui's there is something going on there every night for erasmus students especially. The student home bars were great fun as well but if you ever go to Linz you have to go to the Mensafest!!!! To get a real good beer go to Josefs in the city, you will not regret your beer choice in that bar! There are few niteclubs in Linz but if you want to go clubbing go into the city (20 min by tram from the uni). You are always bound to have a good night with a few friends. If you are Irish and feel a bit homesick why not pay a vist to the Irish pub in the city, there are two Kitty kiernans and the Old Dubliner you will meet a few Irish in there!

Academic
Course recommendations
Some of the lecturers speak dialect in their class once you hear this stay well clear. Some of the german teachers spend more energy at throwing people out of class for attendance than in class work itself, but most of them are ok. I found the intermediate classes more rewarding than the advanced ones because there was more interaction in them.

My academic experiences
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with international students
Interaction with local students
Personal comments
Lectures should drop the dialect in class and they should be more aware of the Erasmus in the class, sometimes they seem to ignore us. the course selection at the begining and all the rules that were thrown at us was annoying because we were only getting our barings at that time. The co ordinator for business there shoulf helped us more as well.

Overall
I wish I had known...
I wish I knew that the Atm link with AIB Ireland was not that good, but the surprise element was the good thing about the erasmus because you had to learn how to deal with bad situation fairly quickly. That is half the experience.

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
In Linz you will meet alot of diffrent erasmus students from alot of different cultures, this does not necessarly happen in all universitys. The International society (Refi) there was briliant the brought us all together more than once a week and those events they organised were memorable one for me:-)
