Why? the life in Kotrpohja, one of the student villages, is really lively!
Personal comments:
Kortepohja is from 10 minutes by bike from the university, there are free saunas in each buildings, free access to internet and free phone calls inside the village! The majority of foreigners are gathered in the same building

Especially visiting international teachers give very good opportunity to appreciate the originality of the lectures. Even if it is not complusory to survive in finland, try to learn finnish. People know how to speak english but will appreciate your motivation.

ALthough it is very hard to learn Finnish, almost everyone speaks English so, assuming that you also speak English, you should have no problems in communicating both in the university and in the country in general.

FINAL COMMENTS

As this wasn´t an exchange year for me as a finn, I´m not the right person to tell you about the life as an exchange student... But I got to know a lot of people from abroad at the university and they were all very happy!:) The finns are very helpful and relaxed people, but they not the ones for small talk.
