Description:
Staying in Flanders means enjoying Flemish hospitality as well as taking an active part in our social and academic life. So we strongly recommend you to attend our courses "Dutch for Foreigners" at the beginning of each semester (September/January). A Follow-up Dutch Course will be provided throughout the year. We would certainly urge those students applying for a practical training experience to make an extra effort. Some basic Dutch knowledge will make it much easier for you to communicate with staff, customers or patients in the companies, social services, schools or hospitals where you will be working. In turn, we expect our students going to your country - be it France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Poland or the Czech Republic - to become more or less proficient in your own language. Another issue is attendance! It is part of Flemish management culture to be on time and to start early in the morning with a view to ending on time in the afternoon. As you come to us to experience our culture, we would like you to take this aspect of our life into consideration as much as possible. Our objective is to have you integrated with the local students as much as possible.

HOUSING
by albertoga, Universidad de Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain
Engineering, Electronic, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It was the only option that they offered me and I like this kind of housing because of the independence that it offers me
Personal comments:
I liked the house because it was quite big and I was in contact with other students there, but the conditions of the house weren't very good. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by albertoga, Universidad de Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain
Engineering, Electronic, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I spent more money because the Belgian standart of living is higher than Spanish and I travelled a lot there and I phoned to Spain several times per month. I spent less in nightlife because Spanish nightlife on weekends is more common than Belgian and I was there busier in other aspects like travelling or knowing new people. Travel, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food: was the same price as at home. Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
The activities that are planed for Erasmus student there In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I think they are in the good line and they help the students enought but they should be more flexible when students don't want to follow all the possibilities that they offer, for instance the accomodation FINAL COMMENTS
Erasmus community there was little but all of us we were very joined, and host university help you to know the rest of the Erasmus student through different activities. Go-Pass that is a special train ticket is very useful to travel around Belgium cheaply. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
