Description:
Staying in Flanders means enjoying Flemish hospitality as well as taking an active part in our social and academic life. So we strongly recommend you to attend our courses "Dutch for Foreigners" at the beginning of each semester (September/January). A Follow-up Dutch Course will be provided throughout the year. We would certainly urge those students applying for a practical training experience to make an extra effort. Some basic Dutch knowledge will make it much easier for you to communicate with staff, customers or patients in the companies, social services, schools or hospitals where you will be working. In turn, we expect our students going to your country - be it France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Poland or the Czech Republic - to become more or less proficient in your own language. Another issue is attendance! It is part of Flemish management culture to be on time and to start early in the morning with a view to ending on time in the afternoon. As you come to us to experience our culture, we would like you to take this aspect of our life into consideration as much as possible. Our objective is to have you integrated with the local students as much as possible.
